Overview:
Introductory division focused on teaching fundamentals and having fun
No previous baseball experience required
Non-competitive games - no score is kept
No umpires - coaches guide the game
Typical Skill Level:
Players still learning simple baseball rules
Learning how to catch, throw, and hit a ball
Short attention spans are normal and expected
Season Structure:
Team formation by coach/friend requests (not drafted). Attempts are made to create teams where players live close to each other
Roster size: 9-12 players
1 -2 games per week, practices dictated by coaches
Games: 3 innings or 75 minutes maximum
Key Rules:
All batting is done off a tee
All players bat every inning
Entire roster plays defense
No stealing or leading off
Equipment:
League provides: Team jersey, hat, socks, tee, helmets, baseballs
Family provides: Glove, pants, cleats
Coaching Goals:
Teach basic throwing, catching, and hitting mechanics
Introduce basic rules, positions, and baseball terms
Build enthusiasm for the sport
Every parent is a "coach" - help is expected and encouraged!
