Ages 7-8 | Coed | Competitive  

Overview: 

• Transition division: hybrid kid pitch with coach backup 

• First competitive division, the score is kept 

• Postseason tournament 

Typical Skill Level:

• More consistent catching of thrown balls and grounders 

• Can throw accurately at reasonable distances 

• Understanding of basic defensive situations 

• Can hit coach pitch and some kid pitch 

Season Structure:

• Team selection by draft after player assessment 

• Roster size: ~12 players 

• 1-2 games per week, practices dictated by coaches 

• Games: 6 innings; no new inning after 1 hr 30 min 

Key Rules:

• Hybrid pitching: Kid pitches until hit, strikeout, or Ball-4 

• On Ball 4, coach throws remaining pitches (max 3) 

• No walks, always a chance to hit 

• Maximum 6 outs per pitcher per game 

• Max 5 runs per inning (lifted after 4th inning) 

• No stealing or leading off 

• Hit by pitch from kid pitcher awards first base
